In our culture, our days are measured for productivity through apps, comparing social media posts, and answering unguardedly the common question, “What did you do today?”
During the lockdown of the pandemic, like many people, I spent more than my usual amount of time at home. To entertain myself, I stopped making my bed daily for about a week. I made sketches of the bedding arrangements as the week progressed. Then I made the painting.
“So, let me get this straight. If you have a cardiac event, or stop breathing, I can start CPR on you and potentially save your life, but if I go down, all you can do is call 911 and cry?”
It’s going to take time for society to recover from the pandemic. Not only its residual effects on the economy and its toll on personal lives, but already we’re seeing the results of profound change.
Earlier this summer, something weird happened to me twice, on the same evening at the same event.
